On Tuesday, September 3, Brazilian ophthalmologist and CEO of Logos BioScience, João Marcelo Lyra, closely observed one of the first implantation surgeries of the Galaxy, which is the world's first spiral intraocular lens developed with artificial intelligence, of which he is a co-creator along with the British company Rayner. The operation was performed by renowned surgeon Allon Barsam at the OCL Vision clinic.
The Galaxy lens represents a significant leap forward compared to traditional options available in the market. After the surgery, Lyra and Barsam discussed the advancements this new technology brings to patients, highlighting how the Galaxy can improve long-term eye health.
According to them, the artificial intelligence incorporated into the lens offers personalized adjustments and greater precision, providing clearer and more stable vision, as well as faster and more comfortable recovery for patients.
The procedure performed in London is a milestone in modern ophthalmology, consolidating the Galaxy lens as one of the most promising options for cataract surgeries and visual correction, and reinforcing João Marcelo Lyra's position as one of the leading innovators in the field of eye health.
